Expedited Spindle Repair – 5 Days
This is a service for expedited spindle repair. For 5 days turn around the cost is $600. This is the cost to provide rapid service. It is not the repair cost. In addition to the expediting fee, an inspection must also be ordered. Our service manager will let you know which inspection to order. Repair costs will be quoted after the inspection. We are happy to provide ball park pricing before the spindle is sent in.
The time period includes business days plus Saturdays. It does not include Sundays or major holidays. The expedite service begins when the service and inspection is ordered. The spindle must be in our facility for the service to begin. Orders or deliveries received after noon will be counted the next business day. Once the service is ordered, you will receive a confirmation email and the planned ship date. We will need to know which shipping service provider you prefer and an account to ship on. UPS is preferred by us.
Disclaimers:
A. In the event that a spindle cannot be repaired in the expedited time selected, the expedite fee will be the number of days it actually took to complete. Jobs that cannot be repaired within six days will be charged 25% of the expedited fee originally selected.
B. For customers with established credit: In the event an expedited spindle cannot be repaired, a portion of the expedited fee will be due and a portion of the inspection fee. It will be pro-rated based on 24 hours per job and a percentage of the inspection that was completed.
C. Expedite services ordered before noon will be considered starting that day. Expedited services ordered after noon will start the following business day.
Shipping Tips
A. If the spindle is under 100 lbs, it can be shipped in a heavy wall cardboard box (200# minimum) or a wooden crate (better). A spindle bolted to the bottom of the wooden crate or a platform inside is best.
B. If possible, there should be some handles on each end. We seem to have less damaged shipments if there are handles. You can use rope as well. We sometimes drill two holes on each side. Each end of the rope handle is held in place by a knot.
C. Mark the box as heavy and add “this side up” stickers. A “heavy” sticker preps the handler for a more difficult box to lift. We see less damages when “heavy” stickers are added. You can also buy shock indicators as added protection.
D. Make sure there is at least 3 inches of clearance between the spindle and inside of the box. UPS will not reimburse for damages unless this is done. Insurance is recommended for damage reimbursement. See “H” below.
E. The best packing material is high density expanding foam. We sell individual packs online. If the spindle is heavy, foam peanuts will not work. Bubble wrap does not work unless there is a lot of it. If bubble wrap is used, make sure the spindle cannot roll around inside the box.
F. Drain the spindle of coolant before packaging.
G. Put extra protection around the nose and end of the fan. The most common damage we see are broken fan shrouds and air fittings.
H. We recommend insurance to some percentage of the value of the spindle. In the event the spindle is lost, you will get the full amount. Insurance is roughly $10 extra per $1,000 of coverage.
I. Lastly, we can not guarantee the shipping service provider will deliver on time. Unless the shipping service provider guarantees the delivery by a certain date, we cannot be held liable for late deliveries.
