Grippers
The gripper is what an automatic tool changer actually grabs – a worn or mismatched gripper is a common cause of dropped tools, failed tool changes, or a tool that seats but won’t release. HS Spindles stocks HSK25E, HSK32E, HSK50F, HSK63E, and HSK63F grippers, along with the ISO30 petal collet gripper, sized to the taper and flange dimensions of each tool holder family. Grippers work by flexing around the tool holder’s V-flange or gripper groove, so the gripper size has to match the exact HSK or ISO taper you’re running – an HSK63F gripper will not seat correctly on an HSK50F holder even though the tapers look similar. If your ATC arm is dropping tools, hesitating on tool change, or showing uneven wear on one side of the gripper jaws, replacing the gripper is usually faster and cheaper than troubleshooting the whole tool changer. Match the gripper to your tool holder taper below.
