How Does a CNC Aggregate Work?
A CNC aggregate connects to the main spindle — typically via an HSK 63F or ISO30 tool holder interface — and is stored in the machine’s automatic tool changer (ATC). When called by the CNC program, the aggregate is picked up like any other tool. Once mounted, it transmits the rotational power from the main spindle through internal gearing or belt drives to one or more output spindles positioned at a different angle or location.
The main spindle’s RPM is converted by the aggregate’s internal ratio to the appropriate output speed for the application. Most aggregates deliver output speeds in the range of 8,000–24,000 RPM depending on the design.
